Bead Head Caddis Pupa

This fly is a very effective general purpose nymph. The partridge hackle pulses through the water making the fly appear lifelike as if it is swimming. Fish using short, intermittent twitches.

Tying Instructions

Thread 6/0 Tan
Hook Standard Wet Fly
Size #14-16
Abdomen Rabbit Fur
Legs Partridge Feather
Ribbing

Gold Wire

Weight Brass Bead
  1. Put bead on hook.
  2. Smash barb and place hook on vise.
  3. Wrap thread from eye to bend.
  4. Tie in gold wire.
  5. Dub thread with tan fur and wrap towards eye to make abdomen.
  6. Wrap gold wire forward spacing it evenly to make ribbing.
  7. Wrap a partridge feather around twice and tie off.
  8. Tie off head and cement.
